Top 5 places to visit while in Kathmandu, Nepal
Most people travel to Nepal to join a trail on the mountains. Kathmandu is the first stop to land before embarking on a trek, so it would be ideal to visit the city of Nepal for a day. Here are some top places that I visited in Kathmandu.
Swayambhunath Stupa (Buddhist Temple + Monkey Temple)
Swayambhunath Stupa is a Buddhist Temple which also known as Monkey Temple. It is a spectacular place to visit. It consists of a remarkable place with locals who pray their Lord and souvenir shops for tourist. From the temple, one can see stunning long distance views of Kathmandu.
Be aware of the monkeys… They are so cute but they can be dangerous too. So make sure when take them photos keep a little bit of distance.
Kathmandu Durbar Square & Kumari house (living Goddes + Virgin God)
Durbar Square is famous for finding a lot of temples with different structures and religious stories behind them.
The square is surrounded with a lot of pigeons. And one can take a lot of photos with them or can sit and see local people feeding them.
When visiting Durbar Square one can also visit Kumari House, which is located in the same area. And if you are lucky when popping in the Kumari house a young girl, which is called Living Goddess or Virgin God, will come out from the gallery to give the blessing to the audience who visited. Note that when this will happen, one has to stay quiet and respect the Goddess and the surroundings. It is also important that no one can take photos of the Living Goddess.
Boudhanath (Buddhist Stupa)
Boudhanath is a Buddhist Stupa, which is very popular in Kathmandu and one of the largest in Asia. It is located in a very big square, where the Stupa is surrounded by souvenirs shops and restaurants.
It is very popular with tourist and locals to pray their lord here.

Pashupatinath temple (Hindu big temple in the world)
Pashupatinath temple is the biggest Hindu Temple in the World. One cannot enter inside unless you are a Hindu, but one can walk around the area to observe what really happens in this Temple.
When visiting, wear a buff to protect your breathing from the cremation and smoke. While the ceremony is held, tourists are important to be respectful to the family in attendance.
Thamel – Neighbourhood
Thamel is a place where this cannot be missed in Kathmandu, especially, if one is heading for a trek. It is a trekking hub where tourists buy or rent mostly their stuff to be prepared for the trek on the mountains.
It is also a hotspot for exchanging money, various nations of restaurants and souvenir shops. Thamel is also popular for nightlife in Kathmandu.
So I believe that this is one that no one can skip if you are in Kathmandu, am I right?
